The transmission sub-team is designing, building, and testing a planetary gear transmission to accept the nominal input speed of the turbine and output the nominal input speed for the generator to supply electrical energy.
The transmission sub-team is beginning to build it's prototype in which it will test and collect data for future iterations of the planetary gear transmission design.
The VERT team is sectored into two different sub-teams; transmission and vortex generator.

Vortex Generator Sub-Team

The vortex generator sub-team is designing, building, and testing ideas for a vortex generator that will allow the turbine to be driven in "no wind" conditions by inducing a vortex through the vertical axis of the turbine. They are also implementing ideas to improve the vortex generator design.
The vortex generator sub-team has designed a DAQ(Data Acquisition System) to collect data from it's vortex generator prototype. The vortex generator sub-team will use this data for future iterations and moderations to it's vortex generator design.
